About the Art & Artist

Artist - Ruth HamillRuth Hamill paints in oils, sometimes traditionally and sometimes in a non-traditional way.  Her paintings have been chosen for group exhibition in New York City (at Chelsea district’s Hun Gallery and at the NAWA Gallery on Fifth Avenue), in Cambridge, Mass., by the chief curator of the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) Boston, (for University Place Gallery exhibit), at the Shore Institute of Contemporary Arts, Long Branch, NJ, the Attleboro Arts Museum and at several other galleries around Boston, and as far away as Vancouver, Wash.  In late 2008, she was inducted into the National Association of Women Artists at a ceremony at the Metropolitian Museum of Art in New York City, and she is a member of the Cambridge Art Association, the New Hampshire Art Association, and Salem Arts Association.  She has completed residencies at the Tin Shop in Breckenridge, Colorado, and the Vermont Studio Center, for which she received a VSC Artist Grant.  Her work was selected for and published in Art Buzz, the 2009 Collection, and was voted People's Choice Award winner at the 2009 Crane Estate Art Show and Sale.
